Zombieland: Double Tap

Imagine a world of zombies, kills of the week and kills of the year for those zombies. That would be the nightmarish, twisted fun that is Zombieland.

Zombieland: Double Tap, is a goofy, action-filled sequel to Zombieland, coming out 10 years after its 2009 debut. The sequel introduces the original four characters, Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock, with some new additions. It’s been several years since the first movie, and zombies have evolved.  This movie comes just as funny and gruesome as the previous installment, and almost always has banger jokes. The characters do not develop much, but as a comedy, this is not a vital point and does not affect it at all. The locations add diversity and make a slight plot, although it is not really needed. The characters travel through several states, with each being wildly different.

At its release, it grossed a total of $28.9 million in the United States and Canada, and a worldwide total of $34.5 million worldwide. It received a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, a 4/5 from Common Sense Media, and a 7.4/10 from IMDb.  Criticism from Rotten Tomatoes included:

“Mostly, it’s just mindless fun, in the exact same way the first film was, even recycling Bill Murray, whose fatal cameo – as himself – 10 years ago was a highlight of the 2009 film.”

Zombieland: Double Tap makes up for a lack of fresh brains with an enjoyable reunion that recaptures the spirit of the original and adds a few fun twists.”

Zombieland: Double Tap serves up a platter of good clean fun once more. It has plenty for first comers to enjoy and fans of the franchise to go nuts over.”

In conclusion, Zombieland: Double Tap is a gory, hilarious sequel to the first Zombieland.  I enjoyed watching it and laughed almost every minute. I highly recommend checking out both movies.
