Teacher of the Week

Described by Karsyn Brower as, “Very sweet, helpful, understanding, patient, and a very good teacher.” This week’s Teacher of the Week is Ms. Smith.

Ms. Smith teaches AP U.S. History, AP European History, and American History I. She has been teaching for a total of seven years and all have been here at UCA. Ms. Smith teaches because she loves talking about history and sharing it with others.

When asked what she would be doing if she wasn’t teaching she said, “ I wanted to be a vet when I was a kid but realized I wasn’t cut out for dealing with blood or putting animals to sleep, so maybe working at a museum or other type of historical site, but that wouldn’t be as fun.”

Ms. Smith is a significant part of the Key Club, serving as the club’s advisor. Key Club is a club that does volunteer work in the school and community. She makes sure club officers are fulfilling their jobs and connects Key Club with the Asheboro Kiwanis Clubs and other community organizations. Key Club will be helping with Kiwanis Pancake Day on March 17 and is also helping the Randolph County Partnership for Children with its Art Explosion and Children’s Puppet Parade in April.
