AHS: 1984, A Totally Tubular Horror Story.

A new season of the hit show, American Horror Story, dropped September 18, 2019, marking the show’s 9th season.   AHS takes the viewer back in time to 1984, a setting not unusual for fans who know many seasons are set in the past.  For those who love that classic horror movie feel this season promises to please. We begin the season with a group of counselors working at a summer camp which is called Camp Redwood.

The main characters include Brooke Thompson (Emma Roberts), Montana Duke (Billie Lourd), Xaiver Plympton (Cody Fern), Ray Powell (DeRon Horton), and Chet Clancy (Gus Kenworthy). Fans might notice that some of their favorite original cast are not here. There has been some speculation that the absence of some of the famous cast, Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange among others, might signal the end of AHS, but neither FX nor Murphy has responded to the claims.

The Story So Far…

Viewers should be pleased with the setting this season, getting an authentic 1984 experience especially through costume design and 80s pop culture references. If you are an 80s fanatic this might be the season for you. The plot basically follows a group of camp counselors as they attempt to survive the horrors of a murderer on the loose. The show still holds that AHS campiness and style this season, but at the same time adds a classic horror movie thrill. So, maybe this totally tubular horror story won’t be a total flop.
