Teacher of the Week

This week’s Feature Teacher is Mr. Curtis Moore.  As the music director for Uwharrie Charter High School, teaching chorus, advanced chorus, and orchestra classes, Mr. Moore enriches the Performing Arts department exponentially.  Not only is he a talented musician, but he is an inspirational teacher both in and outside of the classroom.  Mr. Gregson, an English teacher at UCA, commented, “He is kind, passionate, talented.  He is a wonderful addition to UCA.”

The Nest staffers, Maddie Mabe and Nick Howell, recently spoke with Mr. Moore about his teaching career and time at UCA.  Teaching is a tough job, so when asked why he chose to teach Mr. Moore said, “In high school, I had a student-teacher from UNCG.  He brought positive energy that inspired me not only to be a teacher but to be a better person. That is when I  decided to become a teacher.”  When asked what do you like most about teaching at UCA, Moore said, “Teachers are allowed to teach the most efficient way.  Administration lets teachers do what’s best.”

Amazing teacher. He makes it very easy to learn and understand music. ”

So what if he was not a teacher?  Moore said, “I would probably be performing somewhere.”   In fact, our own Mr. Moore recently spent some time on the stage for the Community Theatre of Greensboro as Delray in “MEMPHIS The Musical”.
